Here's one of those sorts of things.

Rivera Sketchbooks Revealed

Just found an old Racehorse Pub sketch I did in Northampton, UK, circa Jan 2011,  of an old chap with thick shaggy white hair who would fall asleep at the bar, but also sometime wander over and tell me, "Oy used a be quite an artist moyself, but all I'm good at now is being a DRUNK." I sketched while nursing half-price room temperature ale, not even enough change to buy a second, hoping maybe Josh Ryan would come round to buy me one more. And he did! Thanks Josh.  Here's Josh's music embedded below, it's great drawing music:

Rivera Sketchbooks Revealed

Yes we're back to these old tricks again. This is a piece I made in that old stop-motion style, where I would film the drawing process in time lapse, remember that? Here's the old youtube clip below of an example of that. It looks horrible, because back in 2006, it seemed like no one knew how to post things online properly. It works so much better these days. I have no idea what became of the bloody-mouthed clip. So much lost video out there. I stick to paper, now.

CAKE FESTIVAL FINAL WARNING

Here's a scrapped drawing I did for The Logan Square Literary Review that I hated at the time but looking at it now, I think I did an alright job here. I ultimately turned in something different.

Hey, I have a huge cache of new comics to sell tomorrow at CAKE. Which is on or near the Columbia campus, at 1104 S. Wabash. Look, I'll copy paste:

Lookit me, I have a scanner and meticulously render watercolor pictures and post them on my blog. Then I track how many hits I am getting and think about what that might mean for me. 20 hits in one afternoon? 30? 80? Wow! More compelled then ever to commodify myself for computer world, I am now working at a furious pace and probably won't be able to sell any of the above comic (Prison Poem) because I gave it all away for free online. Well, maybe you want to hold the paper in your hands, know that I stapled the bastards together myself. I haven't been sleeping. Come to CAKE festival, cretins! Croutons! Cartoons? Krishnas! Christians! Christians only, please.

CAKE

CAKE Expo June 16-17

Here's a promo image for a big deal comic I am working on. If you come visit me at the absolutely free who's who of underground comics happening this weekend (CAKE), you can buy the first issue of Second Chances from me. Also I will be selling off a brand new comic called Prison Poem. And of course you can buy original artwork from me at the event for a real steal. See you all there. AND also check out Lyra Hill's Brain Trubble opening party this Friday night, if you know what's good for you! Whomp!

Prison Poem

Last moment preparations for new comic Prison Poem. Have pushed body and mind nearly to limit, all to bask in the glory of the CAKE expo, where I will be selling comic books and maybe buying some comic books too.
I've also been busy with Energy Gown, here's a picture of us playing at Empty Bottle that Heinous Hanus took.

Here's the address. Come buy my new comic!

STEADY HISS - 6 JUNE 2012

This is like a totally random page from Prison Poem, I'm just finishing this sucker up for that CAKE event everyone's busy getting ready for. Hopefully everyone's working RIGHT UP TO THE WIRE. I'm working ON The Wire, Season 7 DVD box set, I'm making really good progress on that and then I will be jumping right into Sons of Anarchy season 5, hopefully the motorcycle gang isn't responsible for too many deaths in the community as they fail to run guns or drugs and get caught over and over and over again.

Steady Hiss June 3, 2012

Gettin' loose here and cranking these suckers out for the CAKE event here in Chicago this June 16-17, free public exhibition featuring underground comic up and comers as well as established NAMES in the KNOW whom you can RUB SHOULDERS with including Eric Rivera.
