Garbage Boys & Trash Boys

Here's an old lost bit I found. Remember the Garbage Boys & Trash Boys? No? Me neither. I completely forgot that this was a story I'd been working on. Maybe I will hop back to it eventually, I think there's some potential here for a nice little middle school universe to explore.

Fake Album Covers For Fake Bands - Cologne Factory

Cologne Factory is a name that will just have to follow me around for as long as I am playing this internet craftmaking video game. I guess I could change it, but what's the difference anyway? Why do I need a special creation moniker? Isn't Eric Rivera good enough? Eric Rivera is, of course, a commoner's name, like a Hispanic John Smith, with the most prolific ER being the kid who killed an NFL player in Florida about six years ago. If I have one goal in life it is to outshine the young Floridian murderer. Easy enough, you'd think, but Google is the ultimate definer of fame.

Anyway, you know the drill: I get bored and make fake record covers and post them online, then people "like" them on Facebook and I check who likes them and then maybe later I will "like" one of their links. It's a really fun way to spend your evening. Every evening. Forever.

Right now I am going to rehearsal for my real band, Energy Gown. We have a show in Indianapolis on June 11th, but I don't have all the info just yet. Don't worry, music lovers, I'll get that to you soon enough.

Peas,

Hawk Blackfoot

Here's the introduction to a new Prison Poets chapter. I decided to draw myself into this page, which I hadn't done in a while. The old self-effacing, but also trying to look cool bit.

Rivera Sketchbooks Revealed

Well here's a pretty weird thing for you to look at. But don't look too long, we're now into that nice summer weather. We all need to get off these computers and soak up dem beach rays!

Rivera Sketchbooks Revealed

I don't know if this is something interesting or not, but I have been getting lots of hits on the blog this week so I want to post up more junk for those slathering fans out there, always wanting more, more, more, sucking my life force from me like vampires until I'm left, a husk, a spider's prey, the final victim.

Anyway, sometimes I do these little doodle pages and then put them in an overstuffed drawer, maybe I will show them off online. You can buy them at CAKE fest on June 16-17 in Chicago.

African Heads

Haven't done an African head in a while. This is from a photograph of one of those Omo Valley tribes. Maybe a bit rough.

Energy Gown at The Mutiny

Well it's a debut performance from new Chicago group Energy Gown tomorrow night at The Mutiny (2428 Western Ave). We'll be playing with a pretty great group called Holy Wave from Austin, Texas, and a couple midwestern groups (The Sueves, CRYS). Free! Above is a little taste of what we're up to. below is a little taste of what supergroup Holy Wave is up to.

The Mutiny is a pretty neat rock and roll dive bar with cheap beer and good sound. 8:30pm. Come on.

BRAIN FRAME 6

Well well! Big comic night coming up in Chicago, it's time for Lyra Hill's Brain Frame #6 this Friday May 18th! I am going to be reading some new work, and I'm not the only one, look at that all star roster! Also, as a Hoosier and huge Jonathan Davis fan, I think this is the best Brain Frame poster yet! Lookit that font! The event starts at 8pm, so head down to see the freshest new work in American comics. You can still buy Second Chances #1 while supplies last. Other people will be selling other stuff there as well. Bring some walking around money.

Chinese Rocks

Here's some work that you'll be able to inspect and even purchase at the next Chicago Underground Comics Festival, better known as CAKE. See you there, I'll be selling 'em all.

Cologne Factory - Zipper Masks

Brand new Cologne Factory music recording, I think you download it for your marathon runs in the woods, mountains, or sidewalks, what have you.

Prisoner's Poetry Club

Today while I work on comics by the front window, there are men working in the street as well, pouring concrete. Very embarrassing dichotomy in a way, "working" diligently with my little paint set while other adults operate a dangerous, million dollar concrete truck a stone's throw away.

Chinese Rocks & cdza

Well I've just returned from the Austin Psych Fest 2012, which truly cracked my brain open, to see so much wonderful cutting edge music and counter cultural stuff going on. Sun Araw, Amen Dunes, and Niger's Bombino were my favorites from each day. Austin is a really beautiful town, though I'm glad I live in Chicago and happy to be home.

Up above is a new page from Chinese Rocks. You'll be seeing more pages up soon, as I've figured out the newly redesigned blogspot site and want to have lots of new content on here, now that my cdza video is up online and my big beige face is on Gawker. I'm hoping the anonymous comments will get snarkier, but so far nothing has topped 2009's meanest comment,  "I suggest killing yourself forthwith" from the burgeoning Brooklyn Pog Rap scene we were so influential in back then.
